Guidanastro Rollers

Solutions for proper centering and guidance of industrial conveyor belts.
Bombarded, conical, and profiled rollers for every belt width and operating condition.

In industrial conveyor belts, belt drift is one of the most common and costly problems: it causes accelerated wear on the belt and the support profiles, risks of the conveyed material falling off, unplanned line shutdowns, and damage to mechanical components.

Belt guide rollers (also known as training rollers or belt guide rollers) are components specifically designed to keep the belt centered on the conveyor path, automatically correcting lateral deviations caused by asymmetrical loads, frame misalignments, or variations in belt tension.

NUOVA OMEC manufactures belt guide rollers in various geometries (cambered, conical, and with side guide profiles) suitable for rubber, PVC, polyester, and fabric belts. The product line covers belt widths ranging from 300 mm to 2,000 mm and beyond.

Crowned roller

The crowned roller shell, with a larger diameter at the centre and tapered ends, generates a natural centripetal force that guides the belt back towards the centre. It is the simplest and most widely used solution for light- and medium-duty belts on horizontal conveyor sections.

Tapered roller

The tapered profile, with a diameter that increases towards one end, is used in belt-tracking systems. The roller pivots around a vertical pin and, when it detects belt misalignment, adjusts its position to guide the belt back on track. It is ideal for heavy-duty belts and long conveyors.

Roller with side collars

The roller shell is flanked by larger-diameter rings that act as physical guides for the edges of the belt. This simple and robust mechanical solution is suitable for dusty environments or applications where material may accumulate on the roller profile.

Pivoting self-tracking roller

A complete system featuring a tapered roller mounted on a pivoting support. The belt itself applies pressure to the roller, orienting it in the correct direction. Fully automatic and requiring no actuators or sensors, it corrects misalignment within two to four belt revolutions after the deviation is detected.

Cape

  • Raw or galvanized steel: for dry environments, standard
  • AISI 304 stainless steel: for humid, corrosive, or food-contact environments
  • Vulcanized rubber coating: increases friction on the belt for improved centering efficiency
  • Polyurethane coating: for areas with a risk of slipping or for delicate conveyor belts
  • HDPE or PA: for environments with aggressive chemicals or low temperatures

Curved Profile

  • Standard crown: 0.5–1% of the nominal diameter per side
  • Reinforced crown: up to 1.5% for heavy-duty or high-tension belts
  • Usable length: from 300 mm to 2,000 mm and longer (custom lengths available)

Bearings and Protective Covers

  • Single-row or double-row sealed (2RS) ball bearings
  • Flanged bearings for high radial loads
  • Labyrinth seals for environments with dust or abrasive materials
  • IP67 and IP69K versions for high-pressure washing

Selection Criteria

  • Belt width (B)
  • Weight and Type of Material Being Transported
  • Belt Speed
  • Environmental conditions (dust, humidity, temperature)
  • Frequency and Magnitude of Typical Drift
The choice of material for the shell and shaft is critical to the roller’s performance and service life in relation to the operating environment. NUOVA OMEC offers a wide range of options:

Ceramics industry

Conveyor belts for tiles during drying and firing processes. Stainless-steel crowned tracking rollers ensure correct belt alignment even with the asymmetrical loads typical of multi-format production.

Bulk material handling

Quarries, mines, cement plants and biomass power stations. Pivoting self-tracking rollers compensate for belt misalignment caused by uneven distribution of bulk material. Extra-heavy-duty versions are available for demanding environments.

Logistics and packaging

Light-duty conveyor belts for sorting packages, envelopes and parcels. Polyurethane-coated crowned rollers provide gentle belt tracking without damaging the packaging.

Food industry

Conveyor belts for washing, cooling and packaging processes. AISI 304 stainless-steel tracking rollers with fully sealed bearings and smooth surfaces ensure maximum hygiene and resistance to CIP cleaning.

The arched profile creates a centering effect: when the belt tends to shift sideways, the portion of the belt on the convex (higher) side is subjected to greater tension and is pulled back toward the center due to the belt’s elasticity. Effectiveness depends on the belt tension, the roller spacing, and the crown value.

The self-centering roller is recommended when belt drift is systematic and significant (more than 20–30 mm), such as in the case of highly asymmetrical loads, very long belts, or high-speed belts, or when you want to completely eliminate periodic manual adjustments. The domed roller handles slight and occasional drift well.

Yes. The belt guide rollers are custom-made based on the effective width of the belt. Please provide the belt width (B), the mounting type (flanged, through-bolt, etc.), and the operating conditions to receive a customized quote.
