The ceramics industry (tiles, sanitary fixtures, technical ceramics, and refractories) is one of the most demanding environments for material-handling components. Roller conveyors operate in environments characterized by:
NUOVA OMEC addresses these challenges with rollers designed specifically for the industry: high-seal, dust-proof bearings; stainless steel or technically coated roller shells; reinforced end caps; and options for high-temperature applications.
In a modern ceramics plant, conveyor rollers are used in nearly every stage of the production process. That’s where NUOVA OMEC rollers come into play:
Press discharge
50–120°C
Up to 200°C
Production line
Refractory rollers
End of line
Warehouse
The highlighted stages are those in which NUOVA OMEC rollers are used directly and repeatedly.

| Casing Material | AISI 304 (IX1) stainless steel | Standard for humid and dusty environments |
| Delicate tile coating | Soft PVC, PU, foam | Shore hardness 30–80 A |
| Bearing Protection | Labyrinth, 2RS, IP67 | Against abrasive dust |
| Supported tile sizes | From 10×10 cm to 160×320 cm | Custom-made rollers for large slabs |
| Load capacity per roller | 10 to 500+ daN | Depending on the series and size |
| Special Finishes | FDA, antistatic PVC, ATEX | Upon request |
The standard series are rated up to +80°C. For vertical dryers operating at higher temperatures (120–200°C), NUOVA OMEC supplies special versions with high-temperature bearings lubricated with H grease, FKM seals, and a stainless steel housing. Please contact the technical department, specifying the operating temperature and the roller’s position in the oven.
NUOVA OMEC uses various protection systems depending on the severity of the operating environment: double-sealed bearings (2RS) as standard, steel labyrinth seals for environments with high levels of abrasive dust, and versions with a closed, IP67-sealed housing for the most critical conditions. The optimal choice is determined on a case-by-case basis by the engineering department.
Yes. NUOVA OMEC manufactures custom rollers in non-standard lengths to accommodate the large formats characteristic of modern ceramic production. For slabs measuring 120×120 cm, 160×160 cm, and 160×320 cm, specific sizing is required, which the engineering department determines based on the slab’s weight, the roller pitch, and the conveyor speed.
