Idler Rollers for Industrial Conveyors

The most comprehensive range of idler rollers for light, medium, and heavy-duty applications.
Built to last in any industrial environment, available in steel, stainless steel, PVC, and aluminum.

Idler rollers are essential components for any roller conveyor system. Installed as passive components—that is, without their own motor—they allow packages, pallets, crates, and materials of all shapes and weights to move smoothly, reducing friction and ensuring a smooth, controlled flow.

NUOVA OMEC has been designing and manufacturing idler rollers for over thirty years for the manufacturing, logistics, ceramics, packaging, and many other industries. Each roller is made from high-quality materials and can be customized to meet specific requirements regarding load capacity, operating environment, and package type.

The correct selection of the idler roller depends on: the dimensions and weight of the package, the conveyor speed, environmental conditions (humidity, temperature, chemicals), the type of support surface, and the desired center-to-center distance between the rollers

NUOVA OMEC offers one of the widest ranges on the market, categorized by application class and load capacity. The main series are listed below:

LPM-UH / LPE-UH / LP-UH

Unit Handling series specifically optimized for pallet transport. Casing with a shaft diameter of Ø30–40 mm, reinforced bearings. Load capacity ranging from 100 to 500 daN per roller.

LGT

Heavy-duty roller with a square tube (option Q) or round shell. 40 mm diameter shaft. Ideal for applications in harsh environments with high distributed loads.

LMT-UH

Unit Handling Heavy-Duty Roller. Roller shell up to Ø159 mm, shaft up to Ø50 mm. Large-size bearing for loads up to over 1,000 daN. Standard for high-density automated warehouses.

LEP

Extra-Heavy Duty. Shaft diameter up to Ø60 mm. For the heaviest industrial loads: steel mills, foundries, and steel production facilities. Versions made of high-sliding-resistance hardened steel.

Nuova Omec idler rollers are a key component of any conveyor belt system. Designed to ensure smooth belt movement, they absorb vertical loads by distributing them evenly and minimizing friction.

Selecting the right idler roller requires knowledge of certain key parameters. Our engineering department is available to assist with the design process, but here is a summary of the main criteria:

Design Parameters

  • Package size and weight: determines the required load capacity for the roller and the optimal center-to-center distance
  • Neck support surface: flat, slatted, pallet with skids: affects the minimum number of rollers in contact (≥ 3—general rule)
  • Conveyor speed: The maximum recommended speed varies by series; at speeds above 0.5 m/s, belt drive or internal motorization is preferred
  • Operating environment: temperature, humidity, chemicals, and dust—these factors determine the material of the housing and the type of bearing protection.
  • Length and wheelbase: calculated based on the conveyor’s width and the type of package
  • Theoretical bearing life: OMEC standard: 10,000 design hours

Selecting the right idler roller requires knowledge of certain key parameters. Our engineering department is available to assist with the design process, but here is a summary of the main criteria:

The idler roller rotates passively under the action of the shaft or gravity, without its own drive system. The motorized roller (or “motor”), on the other hand, incorporates an internal electric motor or a drive system (chain, belt) that actively moves the shaft along the conveyor.

Yes. NUOVA OMEC manufactures idler rollers with a shaft, end caps, and bearings made of AISI 304 stainless steel (designation IX1/IX). For food-contact applications, an FDA-compliant version is also available, featuring materials certified for food use, including seals and lubricants.

Yes, NUOVA OMEC manufactures custom rollers in non-standard lengths, in addition to the lengths listed in the catalog. Please contact the technical department for special lengths, specific diameters, or non-standard designs.

Yes, there is a specific line of conical rollers (idler and motorized) for creating 90° curves. The LGE-RS conical, LGS conical, and LGED (double roller) series allow for the construction of compact curves with inside radii of 800 mm and up.
